Well, the first thing I said in the locker room after the game last night was that anybody who doesn´t think that we can win this series should stay in Atlanta and not even come back to Orlando with us.
Yeah, we´re in a big hole now at 3-1, but the series is not over yet; far from it if you ask me. We´re going home to the Amway Center for Game 5 and two of these last three are still at our place. Right now, all of our focus just has to be on winning Tuesday night. Then, we can think about coming back up here to A-T-L and getting a win here to push it to a Game 7.
I know everybody out there is talking about how we can´t make shots right now, and it´s been tough to watch these last few games with how we have struggled from the 3-point line. I started to go out there and put up some threes during the game just to help out our percentage a little bit.
I think some of our guys have been out there putting too much pressure on themselves to make shots and it´s affecting us really bad right now. We´ve got to act like it´s practice or a shootaround and guys can´t be afraid to miss shots. I still believe in our guys and feel like we´re going to bust loose real soon and make a lot of shots from the outside. We do that and it´s really going to open up other stuff for us.
I was so happy to see Gilbert Arenas play well for us last night. He was pretty upset about not playing in the second half of Game 2 and not even getting into Game 3, but he responded the right way last night when he got his chance. He looked like the Gilbert from a few years ago, crossing dudes over and attacking the rim relentlessly. He had been putting so much pressure on himself to succeed here after that trade from Washington and I think it´s affected his game and his psyche.
So hopefully we can count on Gilbert to come back strong in Game 5 and do it again because we need all the extra scorers we can get now.
Trust me Magic fans: This series is a long way from being over. You can believe that!!! We were down a couple of times two years ago to Philly and we came back then and won. We were down to Boston two years ago and we won that and went onto the Finals. We were even down 3-0 to Boston last year and won a couple of games when everybody thought we were dead.
We need it to be really loud at the Amway Center on Tuesday and we need everybody to keep on believing. I´m not giving up and nobody on our roster is giving up. As the captain, I´m not going to allow that to ever happen on my watch. Somebody told me after the game that eight teams in history have rallied from 3-1 deficits, so I see no reason why we can´t be the ninth one to do it. We want to shock the world.
I know a lot of Magic fans out there are frustrated right now and I am too, but I´m still believing. We can still do this if we keep on keeping the faith!!!
